What Greg Hahn likes about The Hut:
Only place in town but clean and good food. Helpful and informative staff who don't mind answering questions. And the milk shakes are hand made the old fashioned way. View all feedback.

What Théophile Meyer doesn't like about The Hut:
Not much competition in Bay St. Lawrence, but $20 for a lobster roll (no sides included) is a lot. Crab roll was $18. Seafood fillings were very good & plentiful, but the rolls were a bit stale (for the price, I expect fresher bread). The chocolate milkshake was very good. View all feedback.

"A bit expensive for a night. the views are beautiful and the sun rises in the morning near the rocks. There are hot water and showers, there is a restaurant, but it was not opened when I was there. It's the first choice, so if you don't get early, you won't get a nice place. There are many places to camp."

"We camped at #15. Even though it rained on us, the camp site was picturesque. The beach down below was a nice way to have a quick swim. Justin was funny but caring. The site was very accessible for all. The ramp up to the bathroom and the extra large bathroom were well designed. We did not buy food. The drive was worth it."

"The Bay Café definitely gives you a true sense of community. For us, part of the charm was the fact that the café was actually right in the Bay St. Lawrence Community Centre! The village of Bay St. Lawrence is situated off road from what...I would say is the top of the Cabot Trail. It is peaceful, picturesque and definitely worth the drive off the trail. As other reviewers have mentioned, the décor is simple or sparse but with the windows looking out to the town, you don 't really need a lot of clutter in the décor. I would also guess that because it is within the community centre the café probably serves other purposes throughout the year. Does décor really matter? The fact that the place was busy, busy, busy with both locals and a handful of tourists is proof that décor does not really matter! Keep in mind where you are...some of you may need to dial down your expectations...you 're not in a busy, slick city with multiple venues competing on the same block...you are in a lovely, remote, quiet village so enjoy the experience! The café was clean and bright, the staff was friendly and attentive and the food was clearly homemade with local ingredients and sense of pride. There were three of us and we all enjoyed our hearty seafood chowder with a delicious warm and buttery biscuit. Had they been open for dinner we would have gone again but they are only open for breakfast and lunch. It was explained to us that they did that to be fair to the other restaurant The Hut, that opens only for dinner (take out only . I thought that was thoughtful, kind and fair in such a small village. In terms of the prices, we found them to be in line with other places in Cape Breton and along the trail...you can look on their website to see their menu and prices if you are going that way. And yes it 's true, they only take cash but we found that also to be very common in many places in Cape Breton so just be prepared before you hit the trail! ; We would love to return to Bay St. Lawrence for a longer stay and would without hesitation return to The Bay Café for a meal or two! If you 're in the area...go and enjoy!"

"Small and quaint with a family feeling! Service was great! Food was good! Just wish instead of frozen vegis being served a salad is included the grilled halibut was awesome."
