What Celeste C doesn't like about Joe's grill:
It was just ok, the cost was higher for breakfast than we normally spend and the food was just basic as the name says. Service was quick. Bathroom was next to the open kitchen and backdoor was open to see the trash. View all feedback.

It is not a fancy place - not appealing. However, The service is good and the sandwich is delicious. I had lunch there - a vegetarian sandwich. It is a packed place but the wait is not long. I observe that service is priority. You can judge a good eatery (most times) by eating where the residents eat. You won't regret.
My wife suggested this as a place to go for breakfast. We walked in and it had that local feel to it, plenty of people but still a few tables left over. We sat at the back and had someone come over very quickly with tap water. I had a full breakfast which was excellent, plenty of eggs and sausages, bacon, home fries, and coffee. Not overcooked and not much oil so i wasn't slimy, but still easy to eat and no requirement to douse it in sauce to make it edible! When we went to pay the bill I was pleasantly surprised as to the cost - way less than I expected.
When we stay nearby in Vancouver, this is our everyday breakfast place. Yes, it's a diner. No, it is not fancy. The food and service are really just exactly what we like in a diner. The staff is very helpful and friendly (Particularly Claire, the "lass from Essex" mentioned in another review). The whole staff made a point of greeting our little granddaughter. She liked them a lot and that's good enough for me.Oh yeah, the breakfasts... No complaints from me or my family. Nicely cooked eggs, sourdough(!) toast, bacon, potatoes or fruit, a wrap, and omelets. The french toast was terrific, corned beef hash hit the right notes and the coffee was hot and strong.Bottom line: my kind of place.Don't look for luxury, just really good food and great service at a very reasonable price. They serve lunch and dinner too, but we haven't tried them.
Avoiding wheat means I haven't had an Eggs Benedict for longer than I care to remember. So it was good to be able to get tucked into a plate of avocado and tomato benny with gf toast after all this time! My compadre has a mighty plate of blueberry pancakes which looked amazing and apparently tasted as they looked
