"The food was fantastic and the steaks cooked , perfectly. We stopped in for a birthday dinner. The staff were great, friendly and tolerated my sense of humour. Cocktails were pretty good and the waiter was particularly good as well come visit and eat at a great local restaurant!"

"Annually we travel to Paihia for a 1 week holiday. This year saw us inviting our friends from Timaru who have never travelled so far north. My husband flew in to join us on Sunday evening so we travelled to Kerikeri for the afternoon to do all the touristy things. We decided to have something to eat while there and stumbled over Café Cinema. Wonderful service and great food was enjoyed by all. An added bonus was meeting up with Mats again (the owner) and briefly meeting his daughter Charlie. We will look forward to visiting next year when we come up for our annual pilgrimage."

"Loved this place. Tapas are yummy and not too pricey (around $25 each). The vibe is awesome and staff is cool and friendly. We had such a nice dinner there...will definitely go back again. The singer was very talented and made the experience even better. Recommended!"

"Love this place and the history it has and the stories it holds!!. First licensed pub in Aotearoa in one of the prettiest parts of NZ which of course is Kororareka or Russell in the Bay Of Islands.. I've stayed up here many times over the years and this is the second time at The Duke, I was lucky enough to get a room on the front side with views down the esplanade and out over the water, staff were great I was running really late and they rung to see if I was going to have dinner, they are really friendly and helpful you just need to ask ..room I had was a really good size with separate toilet separate bathroom which has a spa bath with a shower over it very good sized bathroom, bed is in a huge room that's also the lounge which has a couch coffee table good size tv plus tea and coffee jug as well as some very nice teas and filtered coffee sachets there is a little closet with small fridge and they give you milk too....there are two french doors leading to your own balcony with a comfy table and two chairs to relax and take in the views and people watch..best part for me is sitting on the balcony or anywhere in Russell and listening to the Kiwi's calling out all night and even during the day, amazing to hear so many... they also have a restaurant which does some very delicious meals and desserts and a awesome bar..there is also lots of artworks all over the walls every including the rooms ..I would recommend The Duke just to stay in a piece of NZ history Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view, Romantic, Kid-friendly"
