We ate here 2 nights in a row and the starters were excellent every time. On the first night my steak was a bit chewy, but well seasoned; the sirloin my husband had was perfect. The second night the belly pork was a little stringy, but the chicken was excellent. They have a lovely selection of local cheeses. The ordinary wines they have are very well chosen and varied. What mrsagf doesn't like about Watermark:
We had three dinners and three breakfasts in a row as part of a tour group. The food was very good, possibly above the overall level of the hotel, but the service was abysmal--slow, inattentive, confused at times and generally uncaring. Poor attitudes among the staff. Management needs to take action on this and professionalize its wait staff. View all feedback.
After the decision to book a little late christmas away, we had little choice at events and booked a garden space in the frensham ponds hotel. I then read the reviews and asked myself what we had agreed for. at the arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and directed to our garden space, which contained itself and which was overlooked and accessible from the outside. the room was comfortable and in excellent decorative order with some beautiful hauch, a good shower in a modern shower room and a very convenient support, but not hard, bed. the main part of the hotel was again in excellent order with an Indian thema that was not exaggerated. we slept very well and the garden room was quiet and private. since this was the Christmas package, all the meals were included. holy evening was a pre ordered meal and was well presented, hot and tasty laid with a singer for entertainment. the next morning we were presented with the usual selection of continental or English breakfast. we chose the latter thing I have to say was simply the best buffet full of English I ever had. everything was hot and tasty and even though it was kept warm, was just as it was cooked to order 10/10 there were other choices of fruit and pasture as well as the usual juices, toast, tee and coffee. Danish baked varieties were provided and were also excellent. the Christmas dinner was also expected with well cooked turkey and vegetables. boxing day roasting was even better with beautiful roasts and made to house searettich sauce, which had exactly the right amount of heat. Christmas day and boxing day evening had a buffet with a selection of dressing all up to the same high standard. an excellent singer ensured the entertainment for boxing day evening. in the run of time most staff were professional, friendly and attentive, without being overlaid. the bar area was pleasant with a log fire and an atmosphere of relaxed, unobstructed comfort was everywhere. everywhere was spotlessly cleaned, colorful and in good order with different seating areas for guests. reception staff was friendly and helpful with local knowledge and suggestions to visit. Overall, I can't think of much what could be improved, apart from perhaps making the dining room a little more cozy (difficult with a multifunctional room under the circumstances) and a small plant that had become loose on the way to the garden rooms. whatever humans seem to be having a bad review, has been fully addressed by our own view.
Family lunch on the hottest day of the year. The service was faultless and the food great. The Club Sandwich is one of the best we've had ever! The hotel grounds are well maintained and perfect for kids to play around. A few more beers and ales to choose from would be even better, as only 2 lagers were available.
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights the 1st meal was valentines night. Wow what a treat the food was amazing with great choices . The staff where fist class , so friendly and professional.
Stayed at the Frensham Pond Hotel for the evening and enjoyed an excellent dinner in the Watermark Restaurant. Although the restaurant is connected to the hotel it does not feel like a hotel 'dining room '.The menu was interesting and the food was well presented and the quality was excellent. The staff were friendly, efficient but not overpowering. The views across the 'Great Pond ' add to the relaxing atmosphere of the restaurant.I cannot wait until our next visit.Thank you
Beautiful setting by Frensham Pond, and table with superb view. That 's the good bit. When I arrived the entrance was deserted apart from a couple of staff behind the desk. There were workmen everywhere and I had to question of the hotel was open. There were cupboards full of tools, paints and drills on the floor. The bar counter was covered in a dust sheet while they painted the walls. There was banging and hammering. The ladies toilet door wasn 't finished. The steps hadn 't been finished and there was plaster dust all around. Not really what one expects entering a hotel. The gardens were a job in progress too.We had a lovely table for lunch with a great view of the lake. We were the only diners. The fizzy drinks were flat as the electricity was switched off. The starteds were quite tasty and well-presented, but my pork belly was 95% fat.I won 't be rushing back, and sadly won 't be able to give a good account to others. What a shame.
