"This is a good place to go for a long lunch or dinner, particularly if staying at the Mercure, which is just up the hill. A real fire helps the restaurant feel cosy and informal, and the staff are friendly. The food comes in good...portions, and the 10 hour beef is absolutely delicious. Meals are beautifully presented. We had fish pate which was divine, and a sort of superior shepherds pie with shredded beef and a potato topping. The rillets of fish were a tiny bit strange as they were very cold, but the food is generally really tasty. Desserts were huge pieces of chocolate cake with creme anglais or tarte tartine both very nice."

"Arrived on what was the hottest day of the year up to that point. Menu was ok and a little pricy - comparable to those restaurants overlooking the port, but in this case, no view. As previous reviewers have mentioned, there was a roaring fire which was occasionally being used to cook on and which heated up the whole room - brilliant in the winter but perhaps not in the heat of July. Staff were ok."

"At the last minute I decided to have Sunday lunch. I wandered up the rue du Port looking at all the menus as you do but being a Sunday it can sometimes be difficult to just turn up if you haven’t book. My first choice...was full but a table was fond for me here, outside in the glorious sun. Starter fish soup, very nice it was as well, followed by half a lobster, chips and salad. Pudding of a selection of cheese, all washed down with carafe of the house red. Pretty good and reasonably priced. Staff were very helpful and spoke to me in English while I tried to speak in pigeon French. I have only one complaint, my aperitif didn’t turn up but by then the wine had so it didn’t bother me (I wasn’t charged for it) Lovely setting overlooking the harbour and if you are lucky there is a upstairs room with even better views."
