"This review is based on one visit and one take out meal, a combination platter. Very good prices and large portions. A combination meal was more than enough for one person and equivalent to a similar meal in many competing restaurants in...St. John’s. The service was very good and fast. The restaurant looked clean and well maintained (but I didn’t eat in, so that was observed from a distance). The quality of food was OK, but some dishes (e.g. rice and Chow Mein) were a little bland and the egg roll reminded me too much of the frozen variety at the local grocery store."

"I used to eat at the Kenmount several times a week in the 70's. It was one of the very few excellent places in the City. My friend was involved with Graduate Studies at MUN and would be advised by Asian students of special dishes to request which she did and they made!!I knew the owners, a wonderfully kind man and his extended family who lived next door to me when I was a child.The only times back there in recent years were with my elderly family. I read some reviews that were less than flatting and I thought i will check this out myself .I did, last night. Being alone I only ordered several dishes. They were served quickly. They were served hot. They were perfect. They were not laden down with MSG.The waitress was pleasant and perky and not in my face.The decor is lavish, but dated. Keep the drapes and ceiling and fill in the walls for privacy and replace the wallpaper with beige paint and viola? The Kenmount will be a packed restaurant once again, The quality of the food cannot be beaten in the City. The parking cannot be beaten and the ease of access via Kenmount Road? PerfectThe difference between a handful of customers and a full house? $2,000 to $5,000 in cosmetic tweaking. Remove the wallpaper and paint the walls beige. Fill in the squares between the restaurant sections. Re-floor the washroom and change the garbage bin!!!Perhaps wait until patrons arrive to set the tables ......"

"Only place in Newfoundland anyone should ever go for dim sum. The food is fantastic—buns and dumplings and noodles galore—and tastes just like back home at the best authentic restaurants. The service is fine. Not elegant to be sure, but come on, look at the...outside and have a clue that you are def NOT coming here for fine dining, so adjust your service expectations accordingly. And they keep bringing out the steam baskets filled with perfect deliciousness and refilling the tea and that’s all I care about with dim sum service! The gluten free options are surprisingly many. Truly excellent dim sum"

"Very good Chinese restaurant. The authentic dishes are very authentic. The cook knows how to work the wok. The service is very attentive and friendly. This is one of the cleanest restaurants where I was and it is very well maintained. I was there several times and was not disappointed."
