"We have been going to Zen City for many years, organising Charity Nights for a number of charities our church supports. Last night was one of these evenings and nearly 100 friends had a fantastic evening and meal. Unlike some resent reviews, we had NO complaints, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The staff were very friendly and efficient in the way they served 100 hot meals very quickly. The food, as at all our previous visits, was lovely. Again unlike some previous reviews, our vegetarian friends and 2 youngsters who had English meals, received exemplary service. There is always room for improvement but we had a fabulous evening and with a raffle and a game we raised over £1000 for our charity. Thank you Zen City we will be back again."

"Used to use noo noodles a few times a week but since they changed the menu and put the prices up Ive not been back my old order is now more to what it used to be !! the place down the road did...this and didn't last long so hopefully the same wont happen here"

"This is easily the best Chinese takeaway in the area that I've tried. Food is good quality and portions large. Prices are very reasonable and service quick and efficient and helpful. It has the usual hugely long menu that all Chinese places have, so there is plenty of choice and I'm looking to try some more dishes. Roast duck with ginger and onion was packed with flavour, a huge portion with loads of fresh ginger and spring onions, with the duck perfectly cooked. Chicken curry was again full of flavour, and not overly spiced as Chinese curries often are. Served with mushrooms, onions and peas it was again a very generous portion. Egg-fried rice was just as it should be and perfectly cooked. I'll try it again."

"This was our first visit and we will be back. There are so many dishes we want to try. The food is fantastic, full of flavour, beautifully presented. The Tempura Prawns were beautiful, cooked perfectly with a crunchy batter coating. Thai Green Curry was very traditional with a nice balance of spice and flavour. Stir Fry was flavoursome and a good mix of chicken and vegetables. It was a very busy night with lots of delivery drivers collecting orders this is good as it shows how popular the restaurant is, but service in the restaurant was affected. It didn’t spoil our evening though."

"This has been my go to for the 7 years I've lived in Southend. Even since moving to Shoebury a year ago, I come into town specially to get a Chinese from time to time. Last night, I was babysitting for a friend and when I phoned to order, I could not pay with my card as it wasn't registered to the delivery address. This forced me to use Just Eat which cost me £23 for food for one with inflated prices, delivery charge and service charge. I still thought it's great food so it'll be worth a one off splurge. Instead it was greasy to the point I was put off eating it. I'm beyond disappointed and won't be hurrying back."

"The moment you walk into this restaurant, you realise you are going into a family run business where you are going to be treated very specially. And quite simply, I can’t wait to return. We were all made to feel like we were the most...important people in the room. What made our attendance a little bit more complicated, was that there were eight of us with four children under the age of four, but the staff couldn’t be any more accommodating if they tried. Squeezing us in but still given the space and respect accordingly With a menu that boasts some of the most imaginative and mainstream options that you would expect from an Italian restaurant, it’s when taking the order that you realise that everything is bespoke and completely made fresh on site. What would appear to be a huge disappointment when we found that the half lobster pasta, which was showcased on the specials board, was no longer available, we were then presented with a waiter who wanted to showcase the very large Nigerian prawns that he could substitute with. Incredibly motivating in his presentation of this, he also highlighted that this would be a huge reduction financially. What turned up with a selection of some absolutely outstanding food. Of course these prawns served with a crayfish and calamari tomato cream tagliatelle was absolutely out of this world and probably one of the best dishes I have ever eaten in the area. But the Dover soul, pizza, and even chicken Milanese was out of this world. No similarity in flavour, everything was made to each other’s tastebuds without just chopping and churn in the same sauces in every dish. What secured an outstanding set of service was when we found out that one of the deserts was also not available as they had run out of strawberries to create the eton mess. Within seconds the head waiter pulled cash out of his pocket and instantly another waiter went outside, jumped on his motorbike, and drove up to the local shop to buy some strawberries so we were able to have the dessert! I cannot think of another time or restaurant where they will give so much special attention to make sure that their guess got what they wanted. Brilliant. Outstanding food. Outstanding service, what an absolutely wonderful restaurant!"

"We had heard good things about this restaurant so we decided to check it out and we weren’t disappointed. Very friendly staff and tasty food. There are a selection of cocktails to choose from but we opted for the wine with our food. All starters and main courses were good quality and very filling so we didn’t have room for desserts. We shall have to return to try those!"
