"Great coffee and cake, enjoyed rustic atmosphere, staff were lovely, but food/drink was vastly overpriced. My husband and I were dismayed to receive a bill for £18 for 2 slices of (excellent) carrot cake, plus 2 lattes. They had slapped on an additional 50p each for oat milk, plus an extra 50p as one coffee needed to be decaf due to my husband’s health condition/medication (he can’t have lactose or caffeinated drinks). I thought for customer goodwill they shouldn’t charge extra. They only had one toilet working plus there was debris and broken bits all over the backyard of the cafe."

"Pros: • friendly efficient service • their own bitter’s worth a try • very clean • lovely piece of mackerel to start with • tremendous large haddock chips for main course my family can also recommend the scampi and cheddar ploughman’s • great value for money Cons: • the area where you can take dogs is functional rather than cosy, though you can perhaps understand why. N.B. When they said it was a large haddock and chips, they weren’t messing about. I don’t remember having such a large portion elsewhere and the same could perhaps be said about my son’s scampi and chips. They were both fabulous but we couldn’t have faced a dessert for love nor money afterwards."

"We were really lucky to find the Oyster Shack during a recent weekend away to Bigbury on sea. The food, atmosphere and staff were top class! It was that good we returned for a second night in a row. The staff were fantastic with our 3 year old twin girls, who thoroughly enjoyed the experience of watching mummy and daddy eat fresh lobster and crab . If you are visiting the area, definitely book a table and don't miss out!"

"Lovely meal today for lunch in the Glass House, this is a beautiful place to sit and people watch and gaze at the estuary. The 3 pot fish starter was delicious, particularly the mackerel, the tempura prawn plentiful and the pate was lovely I'd say the starters were better than the main course, which was a very nice fish and chips but the starters were a cut above Delicious crispy batter and moist fish, we really liked the mushy peas and tarter sauce Too full for dessert! We really enjoyed the vibe and the staff are attentive and friendly"

"We had a takeaway. It was very tasty. We picked from the ‘specials’ and we’re not disappointed. The Bindi Bharjee was dry and full of flavour. They only take cash but the coop has a cash machine in it. If you like a curry, I...can recommend this restaurant."

"We ate dinner again at the mussel in tonight, it is so excellent. Great welcome, great draft jail ale, food is amongst the best we have had. Staff very welcoming and friendly, can’t recommend it enough. We had monk fish Thai tai curry, mussel burger,1 kg mussels and fish and chips, loved it all for my wife’s birthday, well done all, would not hesitate to come back next time , lovely evening."

"You need to book to eat here as you may or may not get a table if you just turn up. It is worth it though as the food is consistently excellent. Although steaks are their speciality they do a wide range of other foods too and have a good vegetarian options. The views from the hotel are stunning as you can see right down to Plymouth Sound. Worth a trip out to get friendly down to earth service and fantastic food"
