"It was a wonderful adventure with my grand daughter. The menu was interesting and the server helpful in choosing our dishes. Everything was served hot and good timing. Delicious and even the taste of Japanese cheese cake was a treat."

"I have visited this restaurant many times over the years and I always keep coming back for more. The service is friendly and the food is delicious. My wife and I visited here on New Year's Eve and the place was almost empty. As with some other Asian restaurants, the customers are left to search through the menu and fill out their own order. The decor here is more functional than romantic, reminiscent of a cafeteria. I have only two complaints about the food. Some of the stir-fry type dishes tend to be heavy on the vegetables, especially peppers and onions, and a little light on the meat, typically shrimp or chicken. The seafood dish I ordered was delicious but the squid was so chewy that it was almost inedible. I suspect this has to do with the portion of the squid being used as well as the way it is prepared. In any case, it made this meal far less enjoyable than it could have been. All things considered, this place usually gets it right."

"Decently priced all you can eat sushi lunch buffet. Sushi was up to par among other sushi restaurants in Winnipeg. The chicken teriyaki noodles were great and not oily. Chicken Katsu was one of the best tasting I’ve had so far."

"We arrived late in the area and chose it because they were open. We ordered the beef wonton soup and the Cashew Shrimp dish to share. We got rice as well. The soup was delicious!! Lots of wontons and vegetables. The shrimp were plentiful with carrots and zuchini cubed into small bites. Cashews were sweet and easy to chew. Lots to eat. Enjoyed our meal a great deal. Prices were a bit high but for fresh delicious food not out of range."

"Beautiful, breathtaking, creative, sweet, savoury, vibrant… Deer Almond crafts a gorgeous and intimate dining experience that I was truly surprised to find in Winnipeg. Patrons must try chef’s imaginative tasting menu that includes inspiration from Italy, Japan, Germany, Ukraine, and others providing an tasteful experience that is somehow new and nostalgic. The restaurant is warm and cozy, while the service provided makes every customer feel personal as though they’re a celebrity that evening. I had no expectations and only went because a local (and very smart) barista at Little Sisters Coffee Maker recommended it, but I left feeling like I just had the best meal of 2023. Deer Almond is perfect for a romantic evening or an occasion worth celebrating as there is no doubt you’ll leave beyond satisfied. I recommend the bone marrow w/chanterelles, goldeneye nigiri, beet agnolotti, and peanut semifreddo (which has been on the menu for 11-years). As my bartender said, I’ve only tried a quarter of the menu, so I’m ecstatic for my return (hopefully soon)."
