Used to be my favorite spot for an Asian fusion before they removed the Peking duck and spicy clams. View all feedback.
Exceptional Asian fusion meal. Their cured salmon and vegetable salad as well as their burrata with roasted peanuts is to die for. Highly recommend in the Ponsonby section of Auckland. We sat outside facing Ponsonby Road. While the street was very noisy, the atmosphere both in and outside of the restaurant was casual and friendly. I don't know if we will ever get to go back to Auckland but if we do, we would go back to the Blue Breeze Inn.
I ordered the lamb my husband the salmon, We had a lovely outdoor table facing Ponsonby Road in front of the food hall. This is a New Zealand restaurant with an Asian influence. The street was very very noisy, motorcyclists roared up and down the street. The chairs outside were very uncomfortable, too low, too deep, I was sticking to the cushion and sitting very awkwardly. It was very warm outside. By 7:30 on a Wednesday evenings every table was taken. The salmon came out first we heard a story about it. All of the ingredients were on a platter around the sauce. The waitress piled everything high on top making a tower topped with the sauce. She said the higher it is the better our year will be. We then waited for my stir fried lamb with noodles, which was excellent l! My husband asked about my lamb we were told that platters are meant to be shared this is a salad first course. We ate in reverse and ended with a small plate of fresh Barada with roasted peanuts ginger joy and Chinese fried bread. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked smelled wonderful. Despite the noise, discomfort, inconsistent service heat our meal was excellent!
The food we had was excellent! We had the bang bang chicken starter with some rice and some dumplings. We were surprised that the chicken starter came cold (intentionally so) but the flavors were great! I had to buy a tiki mug to add to my collection and it was very reasonably priced! The service was also friendly and really quick!
I guess if you could hold against them it 's becasue it is not authentic. But that 's not what your going for and that 's not what they are offering. This is an awesome fun time. The service is fun and the menu is delicious. The cocktails should not be missed. The Ginger Honi is a masterpiece and must take forever to make. Since were no going for an authentic Asian experince means we can have some rocking desserts Western style. The Chocolate desseert is dope! DO NOT MISS THE PORK BELLY BAO!
I tried this place as it was at the top of Auckland's Best Restaurants according to Urban List. Overall, a bit disappointed. The food ranged from decent to delicious but overpriced in my opinion, although the atmosphere is quite nice. We ordered the pork and prawn shiu mai, pork and black truffle steamed dumpling, hot and numbing ground wild boar, and wok fried market greens. The market greens was bok choy that night, charred with a nice flavor this actually ended up being the favorite for both my partner and me. I also added on one of the pork belly steamed buns after seeing them brought to a neighboring table. It looked amazing but was a big letdown too salty, too much hoisin sauce, and definitely not worth $11 each. There's so many items on the menu that sound good and that I'd like to try, but based on what I've had so far and the prices, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back.
