"We had an excellent meal here, with friendly staff and nice ambiance. We aren 't local (we 're on a trip out west) but found this to be a highlight of our time in Banff and Canmore. There are not many Filipino options and it is not exactly authentic Filipino cuisine. The only Filipino Large Dish was the Kare Kare, which is pictured here BUT it was a great twist on it. I think they do some Filipino fusions and I am usually wary of those but they aced it here."

"Ankor was excellent. we had a great evening dinner there on the 20th. the duck and foie gras were delicious and the apple cocktail from the bar was one of the best drinks I had for years. the mood was nice and the conversation with the cook made for a really great dinner. I don't have any photos of desserts, but we also enjoyed them. prices were what they would expect for a beautiful restaurant with high quality ingredients. I would recommend the place without hesitation."

"We stopped in for brunch at the vermillion room. The brunch had a huge variety of foods, vegetarian options as well. Pancakes were great, the fresh whip cream was absolutely amazing!Staff were very friendly and helpful.This brunch buffet is absolutely worth it for the price, top quality food with a great variety.I'll definitely come back again."

"COWS ice cream is excellent. I was not disappointed. It was a super cold day, but the ice cream was so worth it. So flavorful and they have such great flavors to choose from. Friendly staff too. Wish they had indoor seating but that's not a deal breaker at all. Great place to check out in Banff."

"Very enjoyed this place! we ate in their other restaurant, block kitchen before a few nights and that was so good that we had to try this place. everything we had was so good. excellent service also! the oysters were fresh, lively sauce. we had the grilled skalopp I could eat. the same with the rib-eye. Sushi rolls were also delicious. many options for vegetarian and vegan also."

"Hello Sunshine was such a cool joint after a long drive and day in Jasper. The hostess and wait staff were full of energy, and the menu offerings were a plenty. Wish I could've tried their sake flight but alas I had plenty of road ahead of me tonight. For $100 after tip, I got the scallop ceviche, king salmon oshi (pressed sushi), and for a main, the miso sable fish. Scallop ceviche with the fried wonton chips were A+ and super fresh. The oshi was good, and filling I might add. I would've liked a bit more of that char flavor from the searing process. The miso paste on top of the sable fish was a bit too sour for my taste so I scraped it off, but the rest of the fish and huge prawns x2 were delish. The seared rice patty was a new thing for me, I liked the lightly toasted flavor but it was mushy inside and wasn't a highlight for me. Maybe more rice vinegar would liven it up. Those juicy prawns were memorable tho. High score for the ambience, decor, music, and styling. Prices seem about 12-15% high, but overall I was happy with my selections and would recommend this for a try out for a great Banff dining experience. And apparently they have private karaoke too, sweet! Thanks to Arlene S. for pointing out this place on her Yelp feed!"

"The majority of the staff there are friendly (especially the guy who was making the coffees, he would get 5 stars) but apparently some of them will treat you like garbage if you don't charge the bill to your room (assuming because those people must not be guests and are therefore not worthy). The lady we dealt with was incredibly rude despite being very friendly to the people before us (and yes, we're guests, just don't see the need to charge everything to our room). You're better off getting something downtown as the food and drink will be the same, for less money and friendlier staff"
