yesterday for a frechen theakston with a wife and the two dogs. large beer, very friendly and chatting staff. right dog-friendly pub, the personal make a fuss of the pooches and hand-out tasty for them. we had no time to stop eating, but we probably couldn't have gotten a table out. the food from the kitchen looked great so we book next time. prost. read more.

Arrived at the Crown with my friends l was busy looking at the specials board when the landlord approached me with a rather loud tone and said we have finished serving food, l replied we are not here for food. "Wonderful day trip from York! We rented 3 bikes: 2 mountain bikes 1 e-bike for the non-cyclist among us (me). The Swale Trail was lovely and a very pleasant ride along the river and past green pastures. On the way back, we decided to stick to the road, as it was smoother and had barely any traffic, plus it gave us a different vantage point. It was a bit of an effort to get to the top of the hill, but then it was smooth sailing all the way back down into town. The best thing about the rental experience, though, was the proprietor. He's the type of person you can instantly sense is a caring and decent human being. He was pleasant, helpful, and graciously accommodating of us making last-minute changes. Truly a pleasure!"
