"The best Thai food I’ve had on Vancouver Island. Som Tam is my favourite. The only downside is that I live in Courtenay and wish you could open another restaurant in the Comox Valley so I could eat there every day!"

"Your typical Canadian chinese food, the combo was fried rice or noodles, sprig rolls and sweet n sour pork. Cooked well, Sat up at the bar and got full for about $10 Good if you like that type of food and need a good sized...meal at a good price"

"The food here is very good. Better than the food we tried at another Mexican restaurant in Nanaimo. It's a cozy little family Cafe style place. If you're on your own or just want to stop with kids or friends someplace It's good. They don't serve beer or any other alcohol and their hot sauce I found, while pretty tasty, extremely weak on the fire I would happily eat here again but it's definitely not a date night place."

"Wonderful atmosphere and awesome staff, but each dish was severely oversalted. We ordered gnocchi, and two pizzas: a marinara (with anchovies) (pictured) and another with meat. The gnocchi was so salty that it was inedible, and the marinara pizza had a thick layer of tomato sauce. The sauce layer was thicker than the pizza dough itself! The dough of the pizzas was very salty. We didn't say anything because we felt bad and had been really looking forward to trying La Stella out. There aren't many good and successful restaurants on the island of this style. Hopefully if you are looking to eat there, this review will help you to decide. And perhaps a bolder soul than us will mention it to the chefs. Possibly it was only an error in our dishes. Everything else about La Stella is lovely. Their pizza oven is very pretty. Only the food, which also looked pretty, was unsuccessful."
