"My family of four went today for brunch and most of the menu was unavailable which is fine, we chose from the few available options. We then waited for 50minutes for our food. The chef started shouting loudly in front of everyone (including lots of children and babies): “I’ve had enough of this f ing place, it’s the same every f ing week” and so on. Our food turned up eventually and it was all stone cold. The pancakes were actually raw inside and inedible. I now understand why this was the only place for food in Saffron Walden without a queue round the block. We will not return."

"The best service as soon as you get in. a warm welcome and no dry seat on Saturday afternoon. they had the best selection of tees and the berries infusion tea was definitiw one to try it was just perfect with the south street pantry special afternoon tea. the homemade berths with drunken sawne and homemade jam was simply delicious followed by a delicious salmon and a creamy cheese sandwich. to finish the wonderful afternoon, a showtopper cookie and creamy cake."

"Thank you for making my wife so special yesterday evening. we all (6 adult and a small child) felt very welcome. friendly and relaxed service with fabulous quality were the scallops and filets stunning. we were particularly grateful that they have gone out of their way to meet the question of my daughter after a switched-off menu (which she loved) and that they let us bring a cake (nextly we will try to book early enough to order one of them). a delightful evening for all of us, we have the pleasure of having such a place in stansted."

"This is really excellent pub grub. Whether you have the scampi, fish, or home-made pie you are going to receive a simple, but delicious plate of food. The beef ale pie is simply wonderful. Packed with tender steak and coupled with a excellent gravy....Nice desserts too; especially the rum raisin ice cream and the two cheesecakes. Service is friendly and efficient and prices are reasonable too. Well worth a drive."
