What stonewashed doesn't like about Amalia Sofia Restaurant Bar Hotel Villas Azucenas:
I value others opinions and so plan my dining experience accordingly. This restaurant is barely a 3 star. It has been in this location for a year now so we decided to go. We were the only customers there. Gorgeous night.lovely view. My husband had the seafood stuffed chili rellenos (240 pesos). I had a shrimp stuffed snapper fried (220 p) Both were served with ok rice and lukewarm veg (the usual Mexican carrot/caulif... View all feedback.
Had an early dinner here last night. Food was very fresh and delicious. We had two different salads and two different entrees. Fish filet stuffed with seasonal vegetables and coconut shrimp. Both very good. Service was friendly and prompt. Outstanding view.
We have eaten here for the past several years and have never been disappointed but tonight was an exceptionally amazing dinner. We shared the Zihua salad and Shrimp Kabobs--amazing view of sunset, incredible service and outstanding food!
The restaurant is up a number of flights of stairs. The view is lovely and there is a nice breeze after dark. Had the coconut shrimp which were at best Ok. The beef fajitas were served. Old and even after having them reheated were tasteless. The single waitress was run ragged trying to serve four tables. This is just not worth the effort.

Their bacon wrapped shrimp in chipotle cream is muy delicioso. This restaurant is rarely full because it is a little difficult to find. It is on the rooftop of the boutique hotel Azucenas, on lovely Playa La Ropa. Also, only those who can climb the stairs to that rooftop need try to eat there. BUT, the view and the food are MORE!
This roof top restaurant has the same great view of Z as the much more expensive Casa que Canta. The food is not as fancy but it is delicious. I have been to Amalia Sophia four times over two years and I always get the Coconut Shrimp with Coco Creme sauce. It consists of six large shrimp with a crunchy batter and it's yummy. Amalia Sophia is still pretty much undiscovered so not crowded at all. The waiter is very sweet and has good English. They are responsive to special food concerns like allergies. If you can manage the steps, it's a wonderful place to eat and enjoy the view.
