"A modern Asian fusion restaurant which marries Chinese, Japanese, Malaysian and Thai cuisine in a glamorous and nostalgic environment, LL Wine & Dine's ambitious attempt to recreate yum cha and other contemporary cuisines falls flatly with a string of mediocre and borderline terrible dishes.

The mysterious restaurant in Potts Point features a striking red-and-black interior, colourful wallpapers of old Shanghai/Hong Kong and crystal glasses which shimmer brightly under the candlelight. A raised platform near the bathroom resembles a miniature opera stage although the drum set seems comically out-of-place.

I ordered several of their signature dishes, including crispy tofu with black sesame; spicy wok fried Kong Pao chicken with dried chilli, shallots and cashew nuts; and wok fried rice with BBQ pork, egg garlic and shallot.

The crispy tofu was rough, tough and resemble those from the Asian supermarket rather than the authentic smooth silky tofu made from yellow beans. The black sesame sauce added to the crispy tofu was peripheral and superficial because the sauce was added last rather than mixed with the tofu. Hence, the tofu was bland and dry.

The kong pao chicken was the best of the trio of dishes but the chicken was unfortunately overcooked and the texture became tough and dry.

The fried rice was mushy and did not blend well with the ingredients. Similarly, the BBQ pork was dry and tough. Perhaps it will be better if overnight rice was used.

It's a pity the food did not match with the awesome ambience."

"Worth visiting. We came here for breakfast based upon the reviews and weren't disappointed. The staff made us feel welcome, happily swapped us to a better table when it came free and the food was really good. The greasy spoon is a big, big dish, worth the money, but the black pudding was absolutely delicious. My dish was the mushrooms with pancetta and poached eggs. There's a reason why it regularly sells out it was sublime. The eggs combined with the saltiness of the pancetta (which was thin, crispy but not dry or burnt) perfectly complimented the assorted mushrooms served on sourdough. Loved it and we left two clean plates. The venue is down a little laneway, slightly off the Kings Cross beat and track. Worth a visit, for sure"

"Really homely restaurant which focuses primarily on takeaway. The food doesn't set the world on fire but is reliable. Got Butter Chicken and Rogan Josh with two Garlic Naan's. Service was relatively quick and they were polite. The Rogan Josh was a little bit chewy and gristly which wasn't ideal. Would probably give it 3.5 stars if I could."

"Excellent attentive service. Sapporo Japanese beer is available but not shown on menu - this was good news!
Rendang sliders a highlight. The broccoli was actual broccoli, not Chinese broccoli- a little disappointing. Vegetable gluten free dumplings were bland, the shrimp ones okay. Gluten free fell apart and were difficult to eat- good to have the option though.
Beware the hot chilli is really hot, don't be confused by the creamy texture! Would return x"
