"I was here shortly before Christmas in 2018 and still remember. it was dark, I just got the last ferry from waiheke, and I was hungry after a whole day of mountain biking an island without food except a banana. I followed my nose here and I am so glad that I did it. Excellent fishing and chips, excellent beer, friendly and helpful staff (I was not in auckland since 2012 and the dings were changed, I was a bit out of the way) when I returned, I will eat here again."

"Great place to get a decent bowl of classic Tonkotsu ramen (or something different, lots of choices to choose from! . Portion is very generous, super tasty (no artificial taste like some of the other places in the CBD and great value for money. I come here at least twice a month and find that the food and staff are always consistent. Can't fault it!"

"Dinner at Renkon is always satisfying, large portions and low prices. The Karage Salmon (9.5/10, $12.50) was beautifully cooked, soft and tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. They were super accommodating and swapped the rice for more salad at no extra cost. The Karage chicken (9/10, $12.50) came with lots of chicken and was tender and juicy. Definitely a place I will come often."

"Great flavours, wholesome and delicious. Obviously passionate about food, staff efficient and professional yet still warm and friendly. Not the often seen pretentious 'Emperor Has No Clothes ' menu, but solidly good dining. Reasonable price and nice wine list. We 'll be back."
